History
The Royal Langkawi Yacht Club (RLYC) is the brainchild of Melewar Group’s Y.A.M. Tunku Tan Sri Abdullah whose passion for sailing led him to build a structure that is today a home away from home for sailors and regular patrons alike. When it was first opened in 1996, it was called the Langkawi Yacht Club. In 1999 HRH Sultan of Kedah who is also the Royal Patron of the Club conferred the “Royal” title, making it the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club.
